Frequently Asked Questions

This section will be expanded with common questions after the first few sessions.

Do I need to install anything to get started?

You can start immediately using Google Colab, which runs in your browser with no installation required. For a more complete coding environment, you can also install Cursor — see the installation guide.

Are Colab and Cursor free to use?

Yes. Google Colab is completely free, and the Gemini AI in Colab is free when using Gemini 2.5 Flash. Cursor has a free tier that includes almost all features — you may hit usage limits with very heavy use, but this is unlikely for typical workshop activities.

Can I use AI to complete the workshop exercises?

Yes, but the goal is to learn, not just get answers. Use the reverse engineering approach: see code, ask AI to explain it, clarify concepts, then try modifying it yourself. Avoid having AI auto-fill exercises before you understand what the code does.

Where can I find the workshop notebooks?

All student notebooks are available on the Resources page. You can open them directly in Colab or download them to run locally.

When are the live sessions?

Sessions are held on Fridays at 09:00 GMT. Check the home page for the latest session summaries and any schedule updates.
